Gordon Neslund, 92, of Roseville, Minn., shows a photo of Japanese soldiers cleaning out the I-400 submarine (center) by throwing everything (lots of food and rice) into a barge. Neslund is one of the last surviving World War II crewmen who was part of the capture of a massive Japanese submarine, the I-400. He also was part of the crew who brought the sub back from Tokyo to Pearl Harbor after the Japanese surrender in 1945. (Jean Pieri /  St. Paul Pioneer Press)
